Something large and silent crossed the sky over the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, and the people who saw it still disagree on what it was. Witnesses described an enormous dark silhouette with wings they estimated wider than a car, gliding without apparent effort before disappearing from view. No photograph captured it clearly, and no physical evidence has since emerged.
A silent shadow that witnesses couldn’t shake
The sighting began, by most accounts, with a shadow. Residents across the Rio Grande Valley looked up during an ordinary afternoon and noticed something moving overhead — slowly, silently, and apparently without the rapid wingbeats people associate with familiar birds.
