Charlie Cosser was 17 years old when he was fatally stabbed on a crowded dance floor at an end-of-term party in West Sussex in 2023. His killer, a fellow teenager named Yura Varybrus, was sentenced to life for the murder. Two years on, Charlie’s father Martin has channelled his grief into a national campaign — and finds unexpected resonance in a Netflix drama.
A party, a knife, and two days that changed everything
Charlie Cosser, from Milford, was attending an end-of-term party in West Sussex when Yura Varybrus — also 17 — was asked to leave after behaving inappropriately towards a girl. Instead of leaving, Varybrus attacked Charlie on the dance floor. Charlie died in hospital two days later.
